Structural changes have occurred on the insurance market during last few years. The share of life insurance sector in gross premium written has grown from 31% in 1994 to as much as 45% in 2003. The breakdown of life insurance premium tends to grow in group 5 (health insurance combined with life insurance) while the share of group 3 (life insurance including investment fund) which was growing systematically from 1996 to 2001, has decreased slightly in 2003.
Branch II is dominated by motor insurance, especially the motor insurance (above 63% in 2003), however the proportion between the compulsory motor liability insurance (OC) and the facultative motor insurance (AC) turned in favor of the first one in the period 1996-2003. Steady growth, although from a low level, can be noticed in respect of general liability and financial risk insurance as well as credit guarantees, can be observed.
