Costs of assistance to the victim cannot be reimbursed automatically
13 Mar 2012In its resolution of 13 March 2012, the Supreme Court stated that costs of assistance in pre-trial proceedings cannot be automatically reimbursed to victims of accidents caused by the perpetrator and covered with the perpetrator’s liability insurance.

The new insurance obligation is not a cause of hospital’s additional costs
19 Jan 2012The regulations included in the Act on patients’ rights, in force since the beginning of this year, include the right to seek damages relating to medical events more quickly and at a low cost. The costs of such a system, in accordance with the provisions of the Act, will be borne by hospitals — regardless of whether the insurance obligation exists or not.
Injured parties are not automatically entitled to a substitute vehicle
19 Jan 2012In the justification of the resolution of 17 November 2011, the Supreme Court stated that each case of reimbursing costs of renting a substitute vehicle had to be examined on an individual basis and the insurer was only obliged to reimburse adequate and economically justified costs.
Insurance market after the third quarter of 2011
7 Dec 2011According to data compiled by the Polish Insurance Association throughout the last three quarters of this year, insurers paid out PLN 10.3 billion as compensation to their customers. Benefits provided under life insurance reached PLN 19.4 billion. Both within life and non-life insurance markets, we can observe an increasing premium income.

Data on sales via the telephone and the Internet, presented by the PIU for the first time, show that after the first half of this year, premium collected in this market exceeds PLN 500 million.

A stable half year for the insurance market

As compared to 2010, which was a very difficult year, one may describe the present situation on the insurance market as stable.
