Pension

All of us save the money for retirement from the beginning of our careers. Every month we pay a part of our earnings as a contribution to our future pension. Pension insurance (so-called second pillar) is obligatory in Poland. Any person beginning a career must belong to the Open Pension Fund (OFE). The Fund is primarily designed to increase our pensions with additional funds, generated through investment (OFE). Funds increase the pension we receive from Social Security (ZUS - I pillar). OFE will not provide us the same standard of living we used to have while working. therefore we should think about securing our retirement at the beginning of our careers. The reason is simple: the longer the saving lasts, the more comfortable life in the future we have. Moreover, if we set money aside in advance, these savings will not be a big problem for us- it is more than enough to save 200 PLN per month. Such voluntary ‘additional insurance’ is called a third-pillar.
