Voluntary TPL insurance

Despite the responsibility to conclude liability insurance contracts in case of some occupations, we can conclude any voluntary liability insurance contract while doing any other activity. This kind of contract can also be concluded by any person who has the responsibility to possess such insurance. Then, the voluntary policy will be a kind of "additional insurance”. This is  important if we would like to have additional protection beyond the guarantee sum defined in  the legislation on the mandatory professional liability insurance.

  • While doing any activity we can conclude the liability insurance contract
  • The liability insurance policy protects also our customers

The liability insurance contract related to occupation can be concluded in majority of insurance companies without any problem. Unlike the mandatory contracts, the principles concerning the voluntary liability insurance are determined not by the regulations of law, but in the general conditions of insurance (GCI). Therefore, before concluding a contract we should get acquainted with its conditions. This way, we will know against what we are insured and to what sum the insurer takes responsibility.

  • We choose the range and sum of insurance ourselves
  • Principles of voluntary liability insurance are regulated by general conditions of insurance

Most often, the policy is concluded for a year. We pay the fee at once or in installments. If, in the course of the contract there are circumstances which significantly influence the possibility of facing a damage, we are obliged to inform the insurance company about this fact. Let us remember that the voluntary professional liability insurance concerns only events which occur while working or running an economic activity. If we want to conclude an insurance concerning our private life we should conclude a liability insurance contract privately.

  • The liability insurance protects us against costs of damages which are our fault
  • We inform the insurance company about events which have influence on the probability of facing a damage

In case of the liability insurance, the injured informs the insurer about the damage. Exact conditions of reporting a damage as well as the limits of the insurer's responsibility can be found in the insurance contract. However, this does not mean that we have no responsibilities towards the insurance company. We should always, on request, provide the insurer with all necessary information and deliver documents which could help calculate the damages.

  • The injured informs the insurer about the damage
  • On request,  we should provide the insurer with information concerning an accident
